Danqi in Stockholm Part I

Finally i found time to sit down & attend to my blog again. :D

My dear fren danqi came to Stockholm from UK (12/9~18/9) to visit me , & we had the best time!! I haven't seen her for... let me see.. 2 years! I wasn't really sure what to expect at first, cuz we might have changed quite a lot during these 2 years. We had different experience & might think differently now. I was not sure whether danqi is still the danqi I love soooo much during STPM days, so... let see if friendship stands through the test :D

We had a lot of "expeditions" together, i'll try my best to write them down. It's going to be a jumble of events, so sit tight, &....... GO! :-)

The first place we visited together was Katarinahissen (The Katarina Lift). See the pic below? The part of the building that is jutting out is connected to the lift that i was blocking. We went to that "overhead bridge" kind of thing n awed ourselves with the view.......

Me & Qi, we looked like teenagers!! Cute! haha!

The Beh-youngjun wanna be... (do i look like him?)

Then one night, I can't remember which, we started cooking pasta. We cooked pasta for dinner (the same flavour, same procedure) for 3 days in a row... but it's so nice we didn't get bored about it, at least i didn't ! :P

Now comes the thrills... on Fri, we went out for a wild night.... Danqi found out about the Absolute Icebar in Stockholm, which i didn't even know exist, and suggested that we should have a Fri night party!! The Stockholm icebar is supposed to be the first in the world, she said there's another one in London too!

They only sell Absolute Vodka in the bar, & they even have an Absolute bottle sculpture...
The bar was filled with... hmm... mostly tourist. We met & talked to people from Japan, US, Taiwan, & also a rude couple which Qi said must be Germans! I guess the locals are not enthusiastic about the bar mainly because they know that this is nothing compared to winter! Let me introduct a two of our new frens...

This is Connie, from Houston, USA. She was very talkative. The glasses were made of ice, so when u drink on them, the glasses melt to the shape of ur lips!

This is... hmm.. both me & Qi couldn't remember his name. But i know he's from Texas. He looked like George Clooney right? He's very talkative too! He told us a lot of stuff, cabs in London, snow in Alaska, & also how his son told him bout this Absolute Icebar!

We were posing a lot in the bar for photos, mostly because we knew we won't be here anymore! For me, I've spent an awful amount of $$ (in my own standard) to get into the bar, so most probably, I'll skip the ice castle in Kiruna.

We stayed for ONLY 1 hour ++ in the icebar... it's -5 in there! After an hour we couldn't take it anymore, my hands were numb, my feet were numb, my nose was numb & i think my brain went numb too! So much for the "I can stand the winter"... let's just hope the -20 winter that is yet to come will show some mercy on me!

Then came Saturday which was our day out to the Royal Palace and the Gamla Stan (old town) part of the city. On our way to the palace, we happened to bump into a public rally given by the Prime Minister.. ah hem... now ex Prime Minister (his party lost) of Sweden.
Yes, that fat guy is him.... :P

While we were walking towards the palace, there was a small & happy band marching by. I think it's to attract tourist. Later on i learned from my neighbour that the band is made of volunteers, nobody gets paid, maybe that's why the band seems quite happy (it's not like their doing a job)!

This is the drum major that striked the same pose no matter who approached him! He had this smile of him that will make your day brighter!
Hehe... the percussions!!

Me posing on the street leading to the Palace. Oh ya, don't be mistaken that it's not cold here just because i'm wearing a spaghetti. I took my jacket off just to look nicer it photos! haha!

Tadah... The Royal Palace!! Unfortunately, the Royal family doesn't live here. They complained that it was too noisy in the middle of the city so they moved ! The guards (on the left) are a tourist attraction, cuz they have this change of guards ceromony that is quite interesting :-)

A sculpture at the garden of the Royal Palace
The interior of the Palace. We didn't see much of it cuz we didn't wanna pay (actually it's I didn't want to pay) to go in! :P

We saw a viking ship along the port just beside the palace. The ship was supposed to bring tourist for a ride along the waters. It was not in operation when we past by, so we decided to hop on anyway, and took a lot of photos! We were on a viking ship ONCE! muahahahha!

Can u guess where is this????
It's a toilet in a hotel!!! And do you know what's the name of the hotel? .... the Grand Hotel. Even the toilet is sooooo grand!

One of the things i want to do is to sit on the grass here. If u look closely, the grass is very fine. and it has another kind of vegetation growing alongside with it, making it feel like a soft carpet. Thanks to dear Qi for taking the photo for me! :D
