Easter with Marsja
It was sunny but cold when we walked out of our dorm, heading towards Hötorget to Adolf Fredriks Kyrka (Adolf Fredrik's church). There was a Protestant mass on 11am, and Jerica will be conducting a choir in it.
It was my first time listening to a traditional church organ, a trumpet and live choir during a mass. It felt as if it was a ceremony, things were done one after another. The choir sang, the music lingered and it ended with the chimes of the bells above.
We picnicked in the church's graveyard after the mass. It might sounded scary, but with the spring flowers all around and the sun shining bright, the gravestones seemed a lot more welcoming and friendly than those in the movies. Marsja showed me the grave of the famous Swedish prime minister that was assasinated on 28th Feb -- Olaf Palme. Jerica brought out the Slavik Easter cake that her mom made, and Marsja and I brought out our hot tea. The priest walked by with his two sons, smiling at us.
After the picnic the three of us went to H&M, I bought a hairband to tidy up my already long hair, and Jerica bought a pair of earrings for a wedding that she will be attending. Marsja and I continued to Academic Bokhandeln to buy the world map that we've been all talking about.
Once we reached home, we started to hang the world map. But it was too small for our blank white wall in the kitchen, so Marsja went down town to change it to a bigger one. When she came back with the big map, we continued our unfinished task. First it was just Marsja and I, then Xiao Ying came, then Raj and Pradip, then Mohsen... and the kitchen just got crowded and crowded, because we were hanging the world map that belongs to all of us--the world map that I can point where Malaysia is, Mohsen where Iran is, Elena where Bulgaria is...
Then Marsja and I started our movie marathon with the tapes that Gunnar has left us before leaving for his easter holidays with his mother. First it was Ed Wood, directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp was so young in the movie that his voice still sounded like a teenager!! The movie was a true story about Edward D. Wood Jr. that was selected as the Worst Director of all times. The second movie that we watched was Charlie Chaplin's Gold Rush. We watched the movie, with Chaplin's commenting it himself, and also the documentary of the movie. I was so happy to finally see the famous "Roll Dance" by the immortal Chaplin. He was a great man, that made people laugh at even hunger!
The final movie of our marathon was Akiro Kurosawa's Throne of Blood, which was actually a Japanese version of Macbeth. It was the movie that Hanyi turned into 鬼藏, the first NOISE! production in Penang. The movie brought back many found memories of working with NOISE!.
It was easter, and both Marsja and I had tons of work piled up. But we decided to forget about them for just one day and enjoy a lovely day together.
